The First Sydney Modern Quilt Guild for 2012

The Sydney Modern Quilt Guild also had it first meeting of the year on Saturday February the 11th at the cafe “Not Bread Alone” in Artarmon.

The venue was huge! We could have fit 50 people in there without any problems. The was excellent as well as plenty of shops to look at after the meeting was over.

Although only six of us turned up it was a lovely get together and we had lots of food, and a fantastic show and tell and we were very lucky to get to see all the fantastic things that one of the lovely ladies Jen, bought back from the States with her all the way from Joannes. Makes me want to organise a trip to the US just to go to that store! Anyone want to come along?!

We look forward to the next meeting and seeing many more of you with your exciting creations in tow.

  1. If you are meeting again when and where, it is easier for me to join the Wollongong group (I live in Camden)than it is to get to the other side of the city. Have you thought about a meeting somewhere in Parramatta the geographic centre of Sydney.
Wollongong group are using a local community centre and doing sit and sew with a few each time they meet providing morning tea oh, BTW they meet every third Saturday of the month.
Their blog and they are on facebook

  2. Has this group died.
Today was a lovely day at Bulli Community Centre with the WMQG –
There was between 15 and 20 ladies there to sew chat and show off their wonderful work.
If anyone actually reads this, what about trying somewhere west of the harbour bridge for your next meeting. You could find a community centre or cafe in somewhere like Parramatta or Penrith or Campbelltown

  3. I think organising a meeting in the Penrith would be a great idea! I know of many modern quilters, including myself, who would love to meet up with others and share our love and passion for quilting! Plus there's a huge Spotlight near by and local patchwork fabric stores!!
