October 22nd was the very first Sydney Modern Quilt Guild meeting. Our first meeting was held at the fantastic Blue Gum Hotel in Waitara. I sat fantastic as the location was great as was the food.
We were extremely pleased to see about 25 lovely women turn up ready to share projects, talk about quilting and other ‘stuff’, share a meal and show us what they were up too. It was great to get together with other quilters of all different skills. For some of the lovely ladies there it was the first quilting meeting they had ever been too.
It was a very hot day and we were very lucky to have a function room all to ourselves – we had a lovely breeze blowing in through the windows and there was plenty of drinks to chose from. We introduced ourselves, many ladies bought finished projects and some brought works in progress and will we did the show and tell got to know each other a little better. Some ladies also brought some hand sewing to do while talking. It was so wonderful to see so many talented ladies in one room enjoying themselves.
We are looking forward to many more such meetings in the future.
Here are some photos from that great day.
